In 2024, 21st Century Educational Alternatives: Confronting Racial Capitalism, Patriarchy, Militarism, and the Climate Crisis became an official SIG at the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES). The SIG grew out of work and organizing since 2018 as the The Alternatives Project, and each year has grown in the plurality of its proposals and participants.
